Fujifilm Acros II
Fuji’s famous fine-grain black and white, revived and now made by Harman in England. Legendary for long exposures and smooth tones.
How it behaves
It has almost no reciprocity failure, so it is the king of long exposures. Develop it cleanly and the grain nearly vanishes. It is worth the premium price. It relaunched in November 2019 as a reformulated successor to Neopan 100 Acros, which was discontinued in October 2018. Lab data rates it pushable to EI 800. Handle it in total darkness during development. The gradation is rich and the sharpness is outstanding for a 100-speed film.
Questions people ask
Why is Acros II good for long exposures?
It has exceptional reciprocity characteristics and almost no reciprocity failure. That is why it is the long-exposure specialist among 100-speed films.
Can you push Acros II?
Lab data rates it pushable to EI 800. At box speed it is ultra-fine-grained with rich gradation.
