Kodak Plus-X Expired
Kodak's classic slow black and white film, discontinued in 2011. It is ISO 125 with beautiful fine grain. People still mourn this one.
How it behaves
This roll is expired, so give it an extra stop of exposure. Well stored Plus-X ages gracefully. The general starting point is about one stop per decade past expiry; expect some base fogging. It develops in standard B&W chemistry. The emulsion itself has smooth midtones and moderate contrast.
Questions people ask
Is Kodak Plus-X still made?
No. It was discontinued in 2011, after a production run from 1938 to 2011.
How should you expose expired Plus-X?
Give it extra exposure. The starting point is about one stop per decade past expiry, so a roll two decades old rates around EI 50-64.
Is Plus-X fine-grained?
Yes. Both sources describe fine grain, and the research rates grain and sharpness at four stars.
