Fuji’s fastest consumer color film. 800 speed for indoors, night, and bad light. Grainy, but that was the point.

How it behaves

Use it where slower films give up: concerts, dim rooms, and evening streets. Expect grain and love it. Flash tames it nicely. It was sold as Superia X-TRA 800, and in Japan as Venus 800, with the same emulsion code. It left markets outside Japan in 2016 and was fully gone by 2019, so it is expired only. Heavy overexposure is the common advice, around two stops over at EI 200. Results depend on age and storage. The color is punchy and high contrast, with strong blues and greens and plainly visible grain.

Questions people ask
